About Frogsline

The minimal momentum indicator for BTC, Gold, the S&P 500, and Monero.

What it is

Frogsline is a single-screen tool for traders who want a fast, honest read on market direction. The product’s core feature is the Frogline ribbon— a 4-period Smoothed Moving Average (SMMA) overlay rendered directly on a candlestick chart. The ribbon’s color tells you, at a glance, whether a market is trending up, trending down, or chopping sideways.

No noisy panels, no flashing alerts, no twelve indicators stacked on top of each other. One ribbon. Three colors.

Under the hood it’s standard moving-average logic — no proprietary black-box algorithm, no machine learning, no “secret sauce.” Just four moving averages of public price data, drawn as a single ribbon. The Frogline does not generate buy or sell recommendations and we make no win-rate, accuracy, or backtested-performance claims of any kind.

How the indicator works

The Frogline computes four SMMAs of the bar midpoint (high + low / 2) at periods 15, 19, 25, and 29. The relationship between those four lines determines the signal at every bar:

  • YELLOW (bullish) — all four SMMAs are aligned, with the fastest above the slowest. The market is trending up cleanly.
  • BLUE (bearish) — all four SMMAs are aligned, with the fastest below the slowest. The market is trending down cleanly.
  • BLACK (neutral)— the SMMAs are crossing, out of order, or in warm-up. There’s no clean directional bias and momentum is conflicted.

The math runs server-side. Your browser never sees the algorithm — it only receives the precomputed ribbon points alongside the raw price bars. That keeps the indicator’s logic protected and the JavaScript bundle clean.

What you can chart today

  • BTC/USD — Bitcoin, sourced from Binance.
  • XAU/USD — Gold, tracked via the PAXG/USDT pair on Binance.
  • SPY — SPDR S&P 500 ETF, sourced from Alpaca.
  • XMR/USDT — Monero, sourced from KuCoin (Binance doesn’t list it).

Other crypto pairs not listed on Binance are pulled from KuCoin instead. US stocks and ETFs always go through Alpaca, with Yahoo Finance as a transparent fallback if Alpaca rate-limits.

Timeframes available: 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, 1 week. Live updates stream over WebSocket for crypto and refresh every 30 seconds for stocks.

On the roadmap

  • More tickers as we ship them.
  • Whatever else makes the indicator more useful — open to where the product wants to go.

These are aspirational, not committed delivery dates. Anything we ship lands in the same product. See the full pricing page for all available tiers.

Why it exists

Most charting software is bloated. Most indicators are noisy. Most trader dashboards bury the one signal that matters under fifteen that don’t. Frogsline is the opposite of that — a single, opinionated read on direction that gets out of your way.

What this is not

Frogsline is not financial advice. The Frogline indicator is a technical tool, not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any asset. Trading and investing carry substantial risk of loss. Past performance of any indicator does not guarantee future results. You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
